Water recovery from condensation
Sustainability and efficiency for a greener textile.
Water recovery from condensation
Customer
The client is a company operating in the textile sector, based in central Italy, specialized in the production of woven fabric for windows.
Objectives
Reduce the volume of polluted wastewater to be disposed of > economic savings, Recovery and recycling of water in the industrial process > economic savings and green aspect of the company, Possible reuse of the concentrate > closure of the industrial cycle.
01.
Opportunity
The company’s industrial process produces a high daily volume of condensate containing oils and plasticizers with a high waste disposal cost. Excessive consumption of mains water for the company’s cooling towers.

Project
In the textile sector, industrial wastewater management is a crucial challenge to reduce operating costs and improve environmental sustainability. An Italian company, specialized in the production of window woven fabric, faced the problem of excessive water consumption and high disposal costs of condensate contaminated by oils and plasticizers. The main objective was to recover and recycle water, reducing waste and optimizing the production process.
By installing a V-NT series vacuum evaporator, it was possible to implement an innovative solution that led to significant economic and environmental benefits.
03.
Solution
First series of tests in the laboratory to establish the final composition of the solution, the quality of the distillate and the concentration factor obtainable using a C&G vacuum evaporator. After the outcome of the results, the following recovery plant was designed, consisting of:
- Accumulation of waste water to be treated
- Separation tank for the removal of surface oils and plastic particles
- C&G V-NT series vacuum evaporator with consequent use of the distillate obtained, feeding
the two cooling towers - Exploring solutions on how to reuse the concentrate, if possible
Analysis of the results
The implementation of the V-NT series vacuum evaporator has allowed the textile company to obtain concrete and highly advantageous results, with a positive impact on both operating costs and environmental sustainability.
The system ensured a recovery of 95-97% of the treated wastewater, drastically reducing the volume of liquid waste to be disposed of and cutting the costs of managing industrial wastewater. The recovered water was reused in the cooling towers, allowing a saving of over a third of the mains water consumption, reducing dependence on external water resources.
An additional benefit was the potential recovery of plastic from the concentrate produced by the evaporator. Thanks to the collaboration with an external specialized company, it was possible to enhance the residues, transforming a waste into a useful resource and getting closer to the zero discharge goal.
This innovation not only brought economic benefits, but also strengthened the company's green image in the textile market, improving its overall sustainability.
